DORSET PHOTOGRAPHY ARTIST
My love for Art goes back to childhood. One of my earliest happy memories was drawing an outside scene in class, at school. I sat watching the world go by and completely focusing on the peace and quiet which was in front of me. Ignoring the school noises behind me!
Over time, through me childhood years a ‘style of sorts’ materialised but I wasn’t patient enough to really move forward as an artist but whilst at college I picked up a camera for the first time and I flourished. I found my medium of choice and quite quickly got very interested in movement.
The first time I remember being proud of my creations was whilst photographing club swimmers, in the early 1990’s and one photograph of a hand touching the side of the pool whilst panning the camera quickly. The hand turned into a wavy curve of the water. I remember marvelling at what I had created. It totally changed how I looked at things.
Today, I am in this journey of discovery and found my love for Art with the camera. I cant think of anything better then being on a beach on myself moving my camera in different directions to capture a mood of a scene.
This page will continuously change whilst I capture new images and show off accolades for my work. Very soon my shop is going to open. Come back soon to hear more.
FAVOURITE IMAGES OF 2025 (Dec 2025)
This is the year I finally call myself an artist. Using my camera as my paint brush I now feel I have loads of different approaches to give mood and ambiance. What I love about Photography in general is the continuous different techniques that you can pick up which gives something new to your work. Next year is huge for me. I WILL open my shop and also go to new places to give something new. I am excited about the future.

'TREES IN THE FOG' (November 2025)
Fog gives you the opportunity to really slow down in what you are doing and literally I did this with the picture on your left. The exposed time was 4 seconds. Which is easily the longest ICM image (intentional camera movement) I have ever done.
I have developed a new technique which is to hold the camera in front of you in a rigid post. Whilst pressing the shutter I am taking a deep breath. My chest moves naturally up and then down with the breath. This moves the camera up at the same time. The most important part is to close your eyes. You are then not thinking what you are doing and you are keeping Fluidity of movement.
This approach is great but doesn’t always work. Below are 10 of the pictures I took at the time. This one being no5 in the order.
THE GUILD OF PHOTOGRAPHERS MONTHLY COMPETITION AWARDS 2025 (November 2025)

Throughout 2025 I have been doing the Guild of Photographers monthly competition. I have been doing it for several years and I think this year will be the last for a while. Although I might cave in if I have a couple of good ones
The photographs go infront of a panel of judges who award you with either ‘classified’, for an image that is of high standard but not award winning and Bronze, Silver and Gold for photographs of increasing good standard.
This year I received 2 Golds, 13 bronzes and 9 Classified’s.
I will be going up to Stoke for the annual awards evening in February to receive the Photographers Bar which is my 7th one. ( This is for the points that you gain for each award. This year I have gained 40)
THE TULIP STAIRCASE (Oct 2025)

I have been wanting to photograph the Tulip staircase for years but really didn’t feel I was ready to do my version of it. I am so please I did. Had a great day up in London and Greenwich .The image above is a multiple exposure of 3 images. First one is a handheld keep it steady, Second, was a spiral twist and 3rd was zooming in on the lens. Black and white just worked for this one
COMPETITION WINNER (Feb 2025)

Every month I enter images into the Guild of Photographers monthly competition and I was really pleased to get a Gold award for this image which is only awarded to images of particular distinction.
This particular sunrise was quite incredible. I was awake rather early and decided to rush down to the coast as storms were coming in. With some added energy in the atmosphere you quite often get amazing colour in the sky. I got it right this morning (doesn’t always happen!).
What I love about this image more than anything is that it covers the ‘mood’ of this dramatic morning.

MY CRAFTSMAN PANEL (January 2025)
I worked on my panel with the Guild of photographers for around 18 months. The first picture in the set started me off. I moved my camera so fast that the water started freezing. It has set me on a journey of discovery which in December 2024 I received my Craftsman. I am hoping to keep working on my style and in time I would love to exhibit but for now the 3D gallery below will do. My work was published in the ‘Creative light’ magazine earlier this year.
IMAGE OF THE MONTH (June '24)

June 21st 2024 was such an amazing day. I am not afraid to say that I had some happy tears. This picture received a Gold award and Image of the month in Landscapes with the Guild of Photographers. 10 years of trying to get a Gold was finally been achieved. The funny thing is that I only just decided to enter it last minute. I wasn’t sure it would do well or not.
April is probably my favourite time of year. Every year I venture up to North Dorset and walk into gorgeous woods full of new growth and bird song. If I could put it in a bottle I would do so.
This particular woods is mostly on a hill. The sun finally reaches the woods around 7.45am and the early glow warms up the beach tree bark. Every year I venture here as I know I still haven’t had the perfect conditions. That will hopefully come in future years.
