2023 Pictures
Charles Thorne - Dorset wedding photographer

Welcome to my 2023 Pictures diary. I use this page as my incentive to get out with my camera as much as possible. Some of these pictures will be used for competitions with either the Guild of photographers or Photocrowd. Some will be paid jobs that I do through out the year.

The main thing I like to show is that I love taking photographs and I hope I can take as many of you with me as possible.

This is my year in pictures in 2022.  A diary of every time I have gone out with my camera in 2022. I have been taking photographs since my early teens. Since the beginning I love how photographs portrays the world in an instant. It is a constant reminder of what you were doing that day. For me, personally, photography has been my soul mate and my friend and I love the buzz after getting a good picture. It is also a journey as photography is about learning new techniques and new ways and that is why I am doing this constant changing blog. It is a reminder of what I took on a certain day but also an incentive to get out more and enjoy taking more pictures.

Thank you very much for your interest in my photography. If you would like to know more please fill in the form below and I will get in contact with you as as soon as I can

The Photographer’s Bar

The Photographer’s Bar

‘2020’ was an awful year for all of us. What was regarded as the simple things have been taken away from us. In it’s place was a void of emptiness. For a photographer who loves to photograph the joys of the natural world and human emotion I have been locked in to prevent the virus from spreading. I have realised that the simple hug with your loved ones or seeing your friends means more to me then words can say. Having a way of taking your mind of the stresses and strains has been incredibly important. Photography is a great way of doing this. Keep striving for the ‘complete’ picture is incredibly rewarding and will always push me to get better.

The Guild of Photographers is an excellent organisation. Managed by Steven & Lesley, the Guild look after every single photographer. Improving their skills by having help at an easy reach. This has pushed me to a higher level in Photography and as a person. Very proud in being a qualified member with the Guild in weddings.

The Guild of Photographer’s ‘Image of the Month’ competition involves members submitting images into sections of their choice. The entries are then assessed by a number of highly experienced Judges who grade them in accordance with international judging criteria, and the higher scoring images are given Bronze, Silver, Gold Awards or maybe even the highly sought after Platinum Bar.

Entry to the Image of the Month competition also feeds –

  • ‘Photographer of the Year’ Title chase (with ‘Top 10’ Photographer awards in each competition section
  • ‘Image of the Year’ competition (with ‘Top 10’ finalists and overall winners in each of around 15 genres)
  • The quest to become a member of the Photographers Bar (a lifelong distinction)

The focus for ‘2021’ is going to be two categories. Natural World and Open. With wedding photography still on the back burner for a little while longer the focus on new skills will continue.
