Pre wedding shoot in the New forest

I never forget when I picked up this couple in the photograph. They opened their door in laughter and went – Taa-dah! All Dressed up in their best clothes with their Hunter boots on. We had a great time in the New forest and yes I got them dancing!

This doesn’t mean you have to come on our shoot like this. Shorts and t-shirts are fine, as long as you feel comfortable and ready for a good time.

But why is it important to have a pre wedding shoot? No one is prepared for being centre of attention, most of us dont even like our photograph taken. So, when you are spending loads of money it is good to understand the fundamentals of what works and what doesn’t. How do I stand, what do I do with my hands, where do I look – at the camera or my lovely partner?

This time is invaluable and is also an enormous amount of fun. It is a part of all of my packages as standard.

Charles Thorne - Dorset wedding photographer

Anyone can do Wedding photography. There is absolutely no legal requirement stopping anyone from buying a camera and advertising they are a wedding photographer. You will see 100’s of photographers out there doing just that. To stand out from the crowd I decided in 2017 to qualify with the Guild of Wedding photographers. This basically means I had to show some of my work infront of a panel of judges to see if my work was up to a decent standard and thankfully they agreed. I haven’t stopped there. I feel it is incredbly important to continuously improve my style by doing wedding courses.

To see some of the pictures I added for my qualification and the story behind it please take a look at this blog.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bournemouth wedding photographer

1. How do I book you as our Wedding photographer?

Thank you for thinking of me as your photographer. That really means a lot. Before booking it is best that we have a chat or meet up to make sure we are the right fit. To do that please use the form above and I will be in contact, by your preference of contact, as soon as I can. After chatting and you are happy to go ahead I will send you my terms and conditions with my acceptance form, there is a £50 deposit. The rest is payable 2 weeks before your big day.

2. How many images will we receive?

I generally take a lot throughout a wedding day and a part from the eye shut and duplicates I will give you all the rest. This will be in general over 1000 for a full day. I do not feel I have the right to decide which photos you should have as they are your precious photographs.

3. What happens after we book you?

I am not the silent partner in our relationship. I think it is most important that we know each other before your big day arrives. This can either be by messaging or having a cup a tea. When booking me as your wedding photographer I am here for you 100%.

4.What is a reasonable amount to spend on a wedding photographer?

This of course comes down to how much you want to spend on your big day. For the full day you will see prices ranging from £500 for an inexperienced photographer to £10k for the top of the range. Packages will include albums and prints etc. The photographer will charge based on his experience and which kind of client he/she is after.

Thank you very much for your interest in my photography. If you would like to know more please fill in the form below and I will get in contact with you as as soon as I can

Charles was our photographer for our wedding in Beaminster in August 2019 and we couldn’t recommend him more highly. From a fun filled pre-wedding shoot on the beach at West Bay, mapping out our plans for the event, co-ordinating the shots on the day itself and finally sending us our amazing pack of photos so quickly afterwards, Charles did everything possible to make our day run smoothly and make us feel at ease throughout. We now have a fabulous set of photographs which capture the highlights and emotions of our day perfectly. Thank you Charles!
